SUMMARY:
A leading global supplier of human health and bioscience products to the Life Sciences industry is seeking a Risk Manager with experience within an FDA regulated environment.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Treasurer, the Risk Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and administering risk management and insurance programs such as liability, property, fiduciary, surety, pension plans, and workers' compensation on a Company-wide basis. The incumbent will be expected to optimize the use of these programs to control or limit economic consequences of existing or potential risks, prevent losses, and limit financial liability associated with losses.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing, implementing, and monitoring procedural policies as they relate to insurance, claims, settlement of losses, and loss control analysis work
Planning and advising management on the development of a comprehensive insurance risk program based on loss potential or severity; providing for proper coverage and reserves in case of catastrophic loss; and resolving matters, relating to cost, policy limits, and types of insurance coverage required including commercial insurance, planned non-insurance, self-insurance, utilization of a Captive insurance company, etc.
Recommending selection of insurance brokers, carriers, and alternate methods of insurance by comparing differing coverage, premiums, policy terms, and other provisions to arrange for adequate insurance protection for the assets of the Company or any of our subsidiaries. Serving as the representative of the Company with claims processing, outside insurance agents, insurance auditors, and claims adjusters
Coordinating with the Director of Environmental Health and Safety to make recommendations regarding various activities on which insurance is dependent; such as property safety inspections, claims investigation and loss control, safety training, policies and procedures pertaining to insurance matters, procedures for reporting of accidents and claims, in-house investigations of accident circumstances, and hazards identification

Examining liability clauses in various documents such as leases, contractual agreements, etc., to recommend adequate levels of indemnification (coverage), reduce risk, or eliminate unnecessary risks

Performing analysis of insurance and self-insurance exposures to the Company for merger and/or acquisitions and preparing cost analysis as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field with an MBA preferred
Experience within an FDA regulated environment is desirable
An ARM or CPCU designation is desirable
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience encompassing the following areas: 1) Investigation or analysis of insurance claims; 2) Administration of insurance and risk management activities for the purpose of protecting people and property and to reduce the liability exposure of an employer; 3) Safety program management and/or accident prevention and loss control; 4) The commercial underwriting of property and/or casualty insurance; and 5) International insurance management

Travel Requirement: Up to 20% domestic and international travel
