Vice President, Internal Audit Director

SUMMARY:
A $700m commercial insurance company is seeking an internal audit professional to implement a new Internal Audit function within the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The new Internal Audit Director will work with the Chief Financial Officer and will ultimately report to the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board. Candidate must have the following qualifications:
• A relevant BS/BA degree, a CPA and/or CIA designation (An MBA would be a plus)
• 8-10 years of audit experience
• Experience auditing commercial property & casualty insurance operations
• Strong knowledge of public company reporting and governance requirements
• Excellent interpersonal / influencing skills
• The ideas, experience and understanding necessary to implement and maintain internal controls through different procedures and systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication ability
• The highest level of personal and professional ethics and integrity
• Ability to work successfully in a rapidly changing environment

The duties of this new position will include the following:
• Manage all aspects of the company's internal audit program, including developing an internal audit charter, the annual assessment of risks and annual audit plans.
• Act as liaison with external auditors
• On a continuing basis, evaluate internal control structures, including IT controls
• Perform performance, operational and compliance audits of company programs
• Develop a tracking system for follow up on all audit findings
• Develop and enforce audit standards, policies and practices for the company
• Prepare and present reports of findings
• Investigate any instances of alleged fraud or material misconduct
• Interpret laws, rules and regulations which will impact audit requirements and procedures and ensure compliance with all existing and new mandates.
